Daniel S. Mihalko, 94, of Exeter, passed away on Friday October 11, 2024 while he was a resident at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Exeter.
Born in Exeter, he was the son of John and Mary Shoemaker Mihalko.
Danny was a 1949 graduate of Exeter High School and then entered into the United States Navy as an airman 1st Class during the Korean War. He then signed up and served in the Air Force, working as an aircraft mechanic.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church ( Corpus Christi Parish) and had worked in various employments from working in the garment industry, bar tendering at Gobers, working for the Wyoming Valley Meat Provisions, Pittston, designed advertisements for local newspapers and working at Santarelli's Garage.
Danny was a life member of the Exeter Hose Co. # 1, and was a member of Paci's Band for 60 years, playing his trombone. He remained active his 94 years, maintaining a sharp memory. He enjoyed having conversations with friends and family, telling stories of the good old days. He will be missed by so many.
Dan's family would like to extend their gratitude to all his neighbors, especially “his girls”, Veronica and Nancy, for all the love and support they have shown him throughout the years.
Preceding him in death were his wife Dorothy in 2006 and a stepdaughter Sandra Arcuri, along with brothers John and Edward, and sister, Marion Horny.
Surviving are his nieces and nephews; Judi, Theresa, Joseph, Paul and Donna, step grandchildren; Nicole, Peter and Danielle along with many great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Daniel on Tuesday from 4-6pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral will be on Wednesday at 9:30am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.
Interment will be in St. John the Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
