Donna M. (Higgins) Whitby

Donna M Whitby, 57, of Plains passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 3 2024 at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital in Allentown.

Born in Binghamton, NY she was a graduate of Chenango Valley CSD and Broome Community College where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Prior to her illness, she had worked for most of her career with young children and their families, most recently with Luzerne County Early Headstart-always guiding, teaching and encouraging.

She faced her health issues with grace and a positive attitude, always looking forward.  Her laughter could lighten a room and her caring, humor and love will truly be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Surviving are her husband, Wayne Whitby, her soulmate and best friend her children, Kelsey Frank (Eli Gerrity), Wilkes Barre and Luca Frank, Hazleton, their father and Donna's close friend David Frank, Las Vegas NV, her parents, Barbara and Joseph Witko, Port Dickinson NY, brother Christopher Witko, Binghamton NY, sister Bonnie (Bill) Opper, Endwell, NY, nephew Billy (Nikki) Opper, great nephew Jude Opper, for whom she anxiously awaited daily photos and videos of his activities. nephew Ken Opper, mother in law, Linda Tassey, Scranton and dear friends Nikki Meltzer and Kelly Cwickla.

Preceding her in death, brother William Higgins and beloved friend Mitty Granahan.

Her rescued fur babies were a special part of her life, bringing her much love and joy. She leaves behind, Spike, her great protector.  Also, welcoming her in heaven, waiting for hugs and playtime are Remy, Reilly and Lily.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, May 10 2024 from 5-7 pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Pastor Ginger Daubenhauser will provide services at 7:00pm.
