Edward George Zalepa, Jr., 68, of West Pittston, passed away at home on Monday December 26, 2022.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Edward, Sr. and Ruth Slakish Zalepa.
Edward was a 1972 graduate of Wyoming Area High School and a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston.
Ed also held many offices while he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Wyoming.
He worked in the family business, EZ Upholstering, with his father and mother for 38 years. prior to retirement. Ed survived 2 bouts of cancer from age 29 and was still in remission at
the time of his death. Even though cancer left Ed legally blind, he never complained. He was quick to share many funny stories of all the male nephews helping to deliver completed
furniture He was a loving father and brother and a devoted Grandfather. He was so proud of their every accomplishments
He was preceded in death by his daughter Valerie Zalepa.
Surviving are his children: Jennifer and her husband Scott Hines, Duryea, Carolyn Moore, West Pittston, Edward III, West Pittston, and Brittany (Tyler) Gallup, Swoyersville.
Also surviving are his siblings, Theresa Zalepa, Pinellas Park, Florida, Sandra ( Frank ) Alba, West Pittston, Judy ( Henry) Mikolaichik, Harding, Jeanette ( Louis) Colarusso, West Pittston, Maria ( David ) Serbin, Forksville, and Denise ( Tim) Barrett, Exeter.
6 Grandchildren: Alexa and Isabelle Hines, Noah Moore, Sophia and Kinsleigh Zalepa, and Lennon Gallup.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday from 5-7pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral will be on Saturday at 9:30am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The Monsignor John Sempa, pastor will be celebrant.
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.
