Eveline V. (Monte) DeNardi

Eveline V. (Emily) DeNardi, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston after battling with dementia for several years.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Vernon C. and Ann D. Rusnak Monte. Eveline was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and Luzerne County Community College.

In addition to raising her family, Emily worked in the cafeteria at Wyoming Area School District and later at John Heinz as a medical records clerk until her retirement in 2013. She was a proud member and past District President, Treasurer and Patriotic Instructor of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 4909 in Dupont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elio F. DeNardi in 1985 and her brother, Vernon J. Monte.

Surviving are her five children: Bonny (Richard) Laneski, West Wyoming, Joseph (Lynn) DeNardi, Harding, Elio (Michelle) DeNardi, Harding, Elizabeth DeNardi, Exeter and Christopher DeNardi, Harding. Also surviving her are her nine grandchildren: Joey O’Brien (Sierra), Elyse Laneski Refice (JR), Leah Laneski, Steven DeNardi, Jaclyn DeNardi, Juliana DeNardi, Michael DeNardi, Antonio DeNardi and Alyvia DeNardi. Two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Josephine O’Brien, a sister, Irene Proudlove (Al Tondura), a sister-in-law, Margaret Monte and numerous nieces and nephews.

Becoming a widow at 49 years old, Emily took great pride in raising her five children and instilling strong family values within them. She loved having her family gather at her home for holidays, baking with her grandchildren, taking care of her flower and vegetable garden, playing cards with her friends and caring for her animals.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 9:30-10:30am on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave, West Pittston. 

A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30am with the Monsignor John Sempa, pastor as celebrant.

Interment with Rite of Committal will be at Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Village Campus for their dedication and efforts in taking care of their mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Emily DeNardi can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge.
