Evelyn R. (Chiampi) Sulger

Evelyn Rose Sulger, 85, formerly of Old Forge, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Edenbrook Nursing Home, Second Avenue, Kingston.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Fiori Chiampi.

Preceding her in death were her sisters Carmella Salerno and Dolores Anzalone.

Surviving is her husband and love of her life for over 66 years, George.  Their marriage was one of deep love and genuine friendship-one that was truly admired by all who knew them. They stood beside each other not only as husband and wife, but as best friends, sharing a bond built on respect, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Also surviving are her daughters, Laura (husband John Wozniak), Tunkhannock, and Dawn (husband Michael Holena), Kingston; grandchildren, John Michael Tomsak Jr. (wife Carolina), Nicole Holena, and Jessica Tomsak; great grandchildren, Makayla and Aubrianna Holena; her older brother John Chiampi, West Pittston; along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Evelyn was truly devoted to her family, who were the center of her life.  She found her greatest joy in cooking for holidays, filling her home with warmth, love, and unforgettable meals.  She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren creating memories that will be held close forever.  Known for her generosity and wonderful sense of humor, Evelyn had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and always brought laughter into every room she entered.

Her legacy of love, family, and kindness will live on through all who were blessed to know her.  

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday from 4-8 pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter and again on Monday from 9am until time of services.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 10 am from the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Groves, pastor of First United Methodist Church, West Pittston, officiating. 

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
