Gemma (Ascani) Antonik

Gemma E. ( Ascani) Antonik, 87, formerly of Exeter, passed into eternal lilfe on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at the Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Vitali Ascani.

She was a graduate of Exeter High School and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church ( Corpus Christi Parish), Exeter.

Gemma worked at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital until her retirement.

She loved everthing including her animals, fishing and shopping.

Gemma was preceded in death by her husband George Antonik in 2021 and siblings, Derna Hawkes, Pola Terlesky, Matilda Serbin and Frank Ascani.

Surviving are her daughters, Catherine and her husband Louis Champi, Exeter, Laura and her husband Andrew Vargo, Meshoppen, and Georgette and her husband Glen Brunner, Lompoc, California, 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private family visitation will be held at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Burial Park, Carverton.
