George R. Augustinski, 62, of Pittston, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 6, 2025 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
George came into this world in the back of a Chevy; despite early medical confusion, his mother knew better than the doctors who mistook him for a tumor. The youngest of seven and the self-proclaimed favorite, George’s early years can best be summed up by the phrase, “I used to party there.”
In 1989, George met Michele, the love of his life, who somehow convinced him to settle down. While he gave up most of his bad habits, he never lost his spark. He was a father figure to many, but proudly Dad to Samantha, Danni, and Haven.
George spent 40 years as a vendor and could somehow connect any story back to a bread route. He never met a stranger and was nearly banned from shopping trips for talking so long that the ice cream would melt. True to form, he left the world with the same words he often gave his daughter at any request: “Okay, but you owe me a dollar.”
He is survived by his beloved wife Michele, daughter Samantha, and the daughters of his heart, Danni Broxham and Haven Zafra of Florida. He is also survived by his sisters Liz Sincavage of Winter Garden, Florida, and Kathy Blaum and her husband Mike of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Zigmund Augustinski; his brother, Mike Augustinski; sisters Blanche Baggett, Leona Marchakitus, and Carol Hassaj; and his niece, Dawn Blaum.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date so all who knew and loved him can come together to share stories and memories.
