Ida A. (Musto) Newhart

Ida A. Newhart, 89, of West Pittston, passed away on Saturday October 19, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice, Wilkes Barre.  

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mercadante Musto.  

She attended Pittston schools and later worked in the dress industry before marrying.  She was a devoted wife and caring mother and dedicated her life to her family.  Ida took joy in keeping a pristine home for her family and preparing many holiday meals, using her closely guarded 'secret' recipes.  She also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley her entire life.  She and her husband also operated AC Tours running bus trips to Atlantic City.

She was preceded in death in addition to  her parents by her husband of 67 years, Chester, who passed in April of this year.  

Surviving are her Sons, Attorney Chester Newhart Jr and his wife Sandra, Pittston ; Joseph Newhart and his wife Michele, Dallas ; Grandchildren Melissa Newhart - Kemmerich and her husband Ryan, New York, Christopher Newhart and his partner Cristina Caceres and great-granddaughter Maya Newhart, Florida ; Taylor Newhart, Dallas ; Patrick Newhart, New York ; Step-grandchildren Carter Kusakavitch, West Pittston ; Kira Kusakavitch, New York.

Also surviving are a brother Charles Musto and his wife Andrea and a sister Carol Musto, both of Pittston.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, ( Corpus Christi Parish)  224 Memorial St., Exeter where the family will receive friends and relatives.  Private interment for family only will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
