Janilla R. (Stark) Gubbiotti

Janilla R. Stark-Gubbiotti, 67, of Plains, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and family, on Friday afternoon, April 17, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

Born on October 19th 1958, in Wilkes-Barre, Janilla was the daughter of the late Charles Stark and Rose Gall Stark.  

Janilla was a graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and later found her passion being a beautician in the cosmetology industry. After getting her license, she joined her sister Anne at her beauty salon. There, they worked together for more than 3 decades.

Known for her lively personality, Janilla’s bright spirit brought joy to so many. Her work ethic was exemplary having worked at numerous places of employment including as supervisor of maintenance staff of Misericordia University.

In addition to her parents, Janilla was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Stark.

Janilla will be deeply missed by her loving husband and companion of 25 years, Robert Gubbiotti; her daughters, Jolene Remus, Reading; Jade Taffera (Eric), Pittston; Jordan Remus, Plains; her grandson, Brayn; former spouse Joseph Remus; her sisters, Pamela (David) Parsnik and Anne (Doug) Konopelski, both of Plains Township; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Janilla’s caregiver, Deb; sister Anne & nephew Brad; physical therapist, Eric; and the nurses from Compassionate Care Hospice for all their wonderful care for Janilla during her time of need.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

A second visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in SS. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM with the Reverend John C. Lambert, her Pastor, officiating.

A private family interment will be held.
