Jeffrey W. Weems

Jeffrey W. Weems, Sr., 70, of Swoyersville, passed away on Friday August 29, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Douglas Weems and Ingaborg and Joe Cohen.

Jeff was a graduate of Hempstead High School, NY and then graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in accounting.

Prior to his retiring 7 years ago, he had worked for the Bemis Corporation as their Plant Controller for over 20 years. 

Jeff Weems was an avid golfer who never missed a chance to hit the links and was a lifelong supporter of all New York sports teams. He carried a deep passion for Penn State football and St.

John’s basketball, cheering on his teams with unwavering loyalty. Above all, Jeff adored his grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with them.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former, Elizabeth ( Betsy) Menta and children, Danielle and her husband Jim Dugan, Boyertown, Pa. and Jeff and his partner, Melanie Blaski, Kingston. His grandchildren, Hadley Mornhineway and Jackson Dugan and a sister Carol and her husband Paul Orlando, Medford, NY.  Also brothers in law John ( Holly) Menta, Swoyersville, and William Menta, Wyoming, Sister in law Susan Marseco, Luzerne, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday from 4-6pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

A blessing service will be held at the funeral home Thursday.
