Joseph Smiles Obituary

Joseph Samuel Smiles, 45, of Wyoming passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 22, 2024 at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of R. Nelson and Phyllis Cumbo Smiles, Wyoming.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of Northeastern Pa, and was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School and then received his Bachelors of Science degree in biology from King's College.

He was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Eastern Pennsylvania Bleeding Disorders Foundation.

He dealt with life with a positive attitude and a desire to help others and found his footing in aiding others facing similar challenges.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by several local relatives, aunts and cousins, Aunt Josey Wolff ( Dennis), cousins David ( Daisy) Valenti, Marco ( Virginia) Valenti, and Cathy ( Joseph) Ranieli.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Sam and Pauline Cumbo and paternal grandparents, Jean and Joseph Smiles.

Joseph's family would like to thank Hershey Medical Center, who provided excellent care and encouragement for many years.

Arrangements are in the care of Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Interment will be private at Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.
