Joseph Steve, Sr. Obituary


Joseph G. Steve, Sr., 94, of Exeter, passed away on Tuesday December 8, 2020 at the Allied Hospice Unit, Scranton.
Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the  late John A. and Susan Kender Steve.
After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force serving his country.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society at the former St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston.  where he also belonged to their bowling league.
Mr. Steve was an accomplished musician and played the drums in various bands .
He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston.
He was employed as a machinist for the Ashley Tool and Die Manufacturing Co. for years.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former Anna Danko in 2003 and a son Joseph, Jr. in 2005 , a brother George J. Steve and a sister Anna Miller, son in law Jack Niemi.
Surviving are his children: JoAnn and her husband Richard T. Harding, Brick, N.J. ; Judy Niemi, Wilkes-Barre, Helene Steve, Scranton and John, Exeter.
Grandchildren: Melissa Harding, Joseph Steve, Kimberly Cochrane, Keith Upschulte , Jonathan and Marissa Steve; also Great grandchildren, Tyler Cochrane, Jonathan, Eli ,Lucas, and Emma .

Funeral will be  on Saturday at 9:30 am from the Gubbiotti Funeral Home,.LLC  1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter follolwed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Parish, in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave. West Pittston.
The Rev, Paul McDonnell ,O.S.J., will be celebrant.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Swoyersville.
