Leo DelSerra Obituary

Leo R. DelSerra, 95, a lifelong resident of West Pittston , passed into eternal life on Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility of the Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Twp., where he was a guest for the past three years.

 

Born on June 03, 1925, in West Pittston, Leo was the son of the late Napoleon and Maria (Barni) DelSerra.

 

A graduate of the former West Pittston High School, Leo furthered his education at the Wyoming Seminary School of Business.

 

Prior to his retirement, Leo was employed as a paymaster for the former Owens-Illinois, later Techniglass Corporation, Pittston Township .

 

Leo was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.

 

In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rita (Marcin) DelSerra, who passed away on June 17, 1993; his brother, Gary DelSerra; his sisters, Jennie Bovani, Lena Brown, and Louise Korzeniewski; his nephew, Dante Bovani; and his great-niece, Maria Bovani.

 

Leo is survived by his three children, Maria Ciccone and her husband, Vince, Wyoming; Dr. Joseph DelSerra and his wife, Catherine, Scranton; and Leo DelSerra Jr. and his wife, Paula, Nesquehoning; his three grandchildren, Carla Ciccone-Stevens and her husband, Jason; JJ DelSerra; and Samantha DelSerra and her fiancé, Dan Polhamer; his two great-grandchildren, Lily and Marcus Stevens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The DelSerra and Ciccone families wish to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Wesley Village for their wonderful care of Leo. They would like to especially thank Leo’s favorite nurse, Lisa, who always treated Leo like her own family member.

 

Due to concerns over the current pandemic, a public memorial Mass will be held once restrictions are lifted. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery .
