Loretta A. LaVerdi, 87, formerly of Inkerman, passed away on Sunday February 12, 2023 at the River View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Inkerman, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen Kurdock Thomasitis.
Loretta was a member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (St. Joseph Morello Parish) and was a graduate of Jenkins High School.
Prior to her retirement she had worked at various businesses including Carter Footwear, Quinn's Market, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker raising her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband James F. LaVerdi, Jr., in 2007, her daughter Brenda Lee in 1985, her son James in 2020 and a daughter in law Donna Haggerty LaVerdi in 2019 along with several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children, Lynn LaVerdi, Bonnie ( Bernie) Brown, both of Inkerman and Mark LaVerdi, Jenkins Twp. Her grandchildren Janine LaVerdi, Alea and Moriah Scarantino and Great grandchildren, Christian and Johnny Scarantino and great great grandchildren, Preston and Lori.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday from 5-7pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral will be on Friday at 9:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Morello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston with the Rev. Joseph Elston, Pastor as celebrant.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.
