Louis "Trapper" M. Venetz, 77, of Dupont, passed away unexpectedly, Friday December 3, 2021, while hunting.
He was born in Pittston, the son of the late Louis C and Rita M. Traglia Venetz.
He was a graduate of the West Pittston High School class of 1963.
Lou was the former owner of High-Tech Pools. He and his wife Linda were the former owners of Carters Dairy Freeze in Exeter for 22 years.
Lou's greatest passion was being outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. The love of the sports lead him to hold two patents from the United States Patent Office. He invented the "Quick Holder" device for trapping and also invented the "recoil bag" device for hunting.
His adventures of those sports took him to become a world traveler to Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, Alaska, Australia and the North Pole, where he came to acquire many record trophy's that he displayed proudly.
Lou was the President of the Harvey's Lake Rod and Gun Club for over 10 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the White Ash Land Association in Sullivan County.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Linda Foy Venetz, and daughters Christine Blight and her husband Brian, and Denise Venetz and three grandchildren, Evan Venetz and Olivia and Christian Blight.
He is also survived by his many wonderful and caring neighbors and very dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 9:30am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The Monsignor John Sempa, pastor will be celebrant.
Interment with Rite of Committal will be in West Pittston Cemetery,
