Mary (Thomas) Sabol, 72, of Exeter, passed away unexpectedly of stroke on July 15, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Catherine Clemons Thomas.
Mary was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1968.
She enjoyed word games, reading, playing board games, socializing on her front porch, and going out for dinner and ice cream with friends. She was a generous spirit, and her pancake breakfasts and other home cooked meals were greatly appreciated. In her early years, she worked at the Blue Ribbon Bakery and Bon-Ton.
She was a former customer service representative and teller for nearly 20 years at Fidelity Bank, Kingston. After retirement, she also worked at the Wyoming Borough as a clerk. She was a reliable and friendly employee who cherished the friendships of her colleagues, and enjoyed the company of those she met at Candy’s Place, Forty Fort.
Her favorite and greatest occupation was that of mother and grandmother, at which she excelled.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert A. Sabol, in 2019 and brothers Thomas “Red”, Joseph “Jerry”, and Matthew Thomas, and sister Jeanne Fisher.
She is survived by her daughter Angela and husband Shinya Amano, Cape Elizabeth, Maine; daughter Jessica Sabol, Drums, PA; stepson Jeffrey and wife Karen Sabol, Morristown, New Jersey; grandchildren Logan, Shane, Lionel, Theodore, and Katarina; sister-in-law Annette Soltysiak, Wyoming, and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
