Mary Elizabeth ( Lou) Barletta Day, 74, of Plains, formerly of Exeter, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday November 15, 2020 from a lengthy illness.
She was born in New Jersey on October 15, 1946, the daughter of the late Carmen and Stella Kachinsky Barletta.
MaryLou was a graduate of Exeter High School, Class of 1964. She had worked for many years at Gina's of Wyoming, making pasta and Friendly's for 15 years.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She would have Sunday dinner gatherings at her home for her family. She enjoyed going to church, casino's and her favorite place to be was Disney World. Her family was the love of her life, especially her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They truly were her pride and joy. She was a faithful and devoted Catholic, who loved the Lord and his mother dearly. That is all she would talk about to everyone. including co-workers., friends, family and even strangers.
She touched the life of many people. Her faith was radiant. She couldn't wait for the day to be embraced by the Lord. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. She would speak for hours about our Lord.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her brother, Joseph and a nephew Bryon Barletta.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years Gabriel J. Day, and her children, Mary Ann Day Wheeler and her husband William ( Billy) of Hudson, Michelle (Day) Yanchis, and her companion Ed Chukinas, Hudson, Melissa Dwyer and her husband Robert, Pringle, Gabrielle Day, Wyoming, Gail Day and her companion, Doug Russell, Exeter and Robin Gall and her husband Raymond, LaPlume. Also 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, her sister Carmella Coolbaugh, West Pittston and many cousins and in laws to mention.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 5-8 pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral will be on Saturday at 9:30am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 13 Hudson Rd., Plains. The Reverend John C. Lambert, M.S.W.,pastor, will be celebrant.
Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Plains.
