Nancy Marcin Obituary

Nancy Lou (Vozniak) Marcin, 73, of Swoyersville passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022 while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Kingston on July 20, 1948, Nancy was the daughter of the late Louis and Nellie (Savelli) Vozniak.

Nancy was a 1966 graduate of Swoyersville High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1970 at Misericordia University.

Later Nancy participated in graduate studies at Marywood University. Prior to her retirement in 2006, she was employed as an elementary school teacher for 36 years by the Wyoming Valley West School District and taught at the Schuyler Avenue Elementary School. Nancy valued the relationships she had with her co-workers and took pride in shaping the lives of the many children who were entrusted to her care over the years.

On July 25, 1970, Nancy married her high school sweetheart James (“Joe") Marcin. They raised two children, a daughter, Tracy and a son, Lou. Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed playing the piano, fishing with her dad, shopping and going for drives with her mom, and attending family gatherings and celebrations.
Most recently, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband and dog, watching NFL football games, home shopping, visiting with family, and watching or getting up-to-the-minute updates on her grandchildren's athletic events. Nancy also mastered a few video games that she played with her grandchildren and became proficient in text messaging.

Nancy loved dogs, especially her boxer, Fonzy, and her grand dogs, Max, Sandy, Hunter, Piper, and Sophie. Her life revolved around her husband, children, and grandchildren; she wholeheartedly supported them in anything they did and wanted only the best for them. Nancy was the consummate "mama bear" and loved to laugh and sing.

Nancy is survived by her best friend and loving husband of nearly 52 years James (“Joe") Marcin, her daughter Tracy and her husband Ken Smith of Mechanicsburg, Pa., her son Lou and his wife Kerry Marcin of Dallas, Pa., her grandchildren, Shawn, Joshua, Mia, and Zachary Smith, Alex and Jacob Marcin, Hanna (Jordan) Stover, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nancy is also survived by her faithful canine friend and companion, Fonzy, whom she adored.
