Nevio Caesar Pelleschi, 93, of West Wyoming, passed away on January 27th, 2025 at the Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Exeter.

Born on September 30th,1931, Nevio was the son of the late Caesar and Mary Marini Pelleschi.

Nevio worked for Western Southern Life Insurance as an Insurance Agent for most of his career and was a life-long member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mickey, his daughter Robin, sister Bruna Delconte and her husband John, sister Rose Pelleschi, brother Hugo and his wife Grace, and sister Diane.

He is survived by his sons Michael and his wife Sandy, Lehman Twp., Stephen and his wife Kathy, Exeter and son-in-law Richard Levy, Houston, Texas. Nevio has three grandchildren Michael, Katee and husband Nate, and Matthew, and a great-granddaughter Charlotte.

When Nevio’s father passed away in a mining accident in 1940, his mother sent him to Girard College in Philadelphia, where he remained until graduating in 1949. At Girard, he excelled in baseball, soccer, and basketball, and was named Top Athlete in his senior year. Upon graduation, he signed a minor league contract with the New York Giants baseball team and was assigned to the Peekskill Highlanders of the North Atlantic League. Upon turning 18 in September of that year, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service in 1954, he played one more year of minor league baseball, playing for the Anderson Rebels during the 1954 season. It was while playing for the Rebels that year that he met his future wife, the former Colleen (Mickey) Hinson. They were married the same year and moved back to Northeast Pa to start a family. Once back in Pa., Nevio played many years of fastpitch and later slowpitch softball, mainly for the Dructors Junction team that enjoyed much success in the old Pittston Dispatch League.

After retiring and becoming a grandfather, he enjoyed helping Mickey with babysitting duties and later, attending all of his grand kids’ sporting events.
