Thomas Butchko Obituary


Thomas Joseph Butchko, 81, of Exeter, passed away on July 1, 2022, at the Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Exeter, surrounded by his loving family.
 
Born in Exeter, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Hromisin Butchko.
 
Tom was a 1958 graduate of Exeter High School and a graduate of King’s College (Class of 1966) earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
 
He was a United States Veteran, having served his country as a Military Policeman in the Air Force.
 
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a disability adjudicator for Social Security Administration with the Department of Labor and Industry for 25 years.
 
In his younger years, Tom was actively involved with serving and coaching Exeter Little League and Exeter Teener baseball organizations.
 
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Mary Malinauskas.  His four children include, Mary Beth and her husband Matthew Grubb, Kutztown, PA, Susan Butchko-Krisa, Clark Summit, PA, Mark and his wife Julia Butchko, Indianapolis, IN, and Thomas Jr. and his wife Suzanne Butchko, Exeter.  
 
One of the many joys and blessings that Tom was most proud of were his 12 grandchildren.  They include Stephanie (Brayden), Sara (Matt), Britney (Bill), Dominic, Nicole, Caitlin (Glen), Claire, Mark Joseph, Logan, Isaac, Abby, and Jake. 
 
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
 
Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by the AmVets Honor Guard on Thursday at the funeral home at 9:30am
 
 A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am at St. Barbara Parish in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.  The Monsignor John Sempa, Pastor, will be celebrant.
 
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar St., Exeter.
