Walter R. Zelinski, 83, of Pittston away on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late John and Lucy Squarta Zelinski.
Walter was a graduate of Wyoming High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He then attended Penn State University and began his 34 year career as an electrical technician with Tobyhanna Army Depot.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston. Walter loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time family and friends and especially with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Mary ( Molly) Brannon in 2023 and a brother Jack Zelinsky and a sister Catherine Zelinsky.
Surviving are his children, Diane Zelinski, Avoca, Susan Zelinski, Wyoming, and Walter ( Rosemary) Zelinski, Dallas along with grandchildren, Riley Brody, Bailey and Kaylin.
Also surviving are his siblings Raymond ( Barbara) Wyoming, Joseph ( Rosemary) Barbacci, Naples, Florida and Shirley ( David) Neeley, Jenkins Twp. and a sister in law Mary Beth Zelinsky, Kingston. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday from 5-7pm at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral will be on Monday at 9am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am at St. John the Evangelist Church, William St., Pittston. The Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J. will be celebrant.
Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Am Vets Honor Guard will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
